Death. It’s a term that evokes many negative thoughts and emotions. It certainly raises questions in the minds of believers. What is death? For that matter, what is life? When exactly does one stop living and enter death? These questions have been asked through all the ages. During the past fifty to one hundred years, some medical treatments have blurred the line between life and death. This blurring confronts present-day Christians with additional questions. Are all medical treatments obligatory for Christians, or may a Christian rightly forgo some treatments? Is there a time to stop some of those treatments once begun? Which palliative measures are legitimate for the dying? Is hospice a justifiable option? What about organ donation and transplantation?
